June 5 - It is noon and I am packed up for any kind of weather!
How can a suitcase weigh 47 pounds and there is only a couple of each: hiking pants, turtle necks, wool sweaters, winter coat (long stuffable), t-shirts, long sleeved cotton tops, windbreaker, plastic poncho, rubber boots, one sleep shirt (will have to do laundry along the way), socks and such and slippers (crocs). There are also toiletries and a small bag with cold, trots, back-up remedies (TMI!). I just remembered something I forgot to pack... some munchies. I now have to open the suitcase up and repack again.
The temperature today in Inuvik is pretty close to the day we have in Ottawa. The sun just won't come out today and it feels like a day in October. Ottawa is 14 degrees and cloudy and about to rain while Inuvik is 12 degrees and sunny!! I like the idea of Sunshine!
I am not exactly sure of the time change, I think it is like Edmonton, two hours. It will take 17 hours traveling time to get to Inuvik according to the itinerary.
It is the Land of the Midnight Sun that I am looking forward to!! Something I have never experienced before. The trip info suggested a sleep mask to sleep better and I bought one. I guess I could pretend I am the Lone Ranger if it does not work as a sleep aid.
So lots of excitement at home here today and it is going to be hard to leave.
Like usual I will be excited when I am actually on the first plane of the trip.
I hope to use the travel time to go through the bird list for the birding tour.
No more sleeps before the trip, it is Today, YAY.
