June 2 -Three more sleeps before a long trip to get to Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories!!
This trip was planned so long ago, about 15 months ago! So it sort of was pushed aside with the demands of daily life and other commitments and stuff.
Now it is almost here. Time to Pack, etc. So.... how far is Tuktoyaktuk?? I just checked, it is 4,111 km from Ottawa. That is a long way. This is off a website called Distance and Time.com

This is quite far and the farthest north I have gone on land in Canada. So what is the temperature there today? Weather Channel says 4 degrees and the two week forecast shows highs of 20 and lows just above zero. So long pants weather and long sleeves weather. Maybe some t-shirt days too.
I can't find a site which will give the bug count up there. According to a friend who lived up there until December 2018, the intensity of the bugs varies. Some years there are few other years it is pretty bad. I guess that will be a surprise.
Tuktoyaktuk is north of the Arctic Circle and the only community in Canada that is on the Arctic Ocean. It sounds like a fascinating place. Plus I know that there will be thousands upon thousands of birds there on the breeding grounds.
