Well our air travel on this trip has been eventful and not boring.
We left on our Edmonton to Toronto flight just about 20 minutes behind schedule and it was a full flight. After talking with a seat mate, a crew of men were Newfoundlanders from McMurray going home to Gander for a visit home. The whole plane was alive with activity. The air attendant had to tell one fellow to sit down and stay in his seat. Then the pilot when he finally pulled out of the boarding bay had to stop the plane and say sit down or else we weren't going to move. By the end of the flight there was "an incident". They would not let anyone leave the plane (even though we had less than an hour to get out flight to Ottawa and the Gander fellows had about the same time). This did not seem to matter to flight or RCMP personnel.
We had to wait for the RCMP to arrive, board the plane and interview airline staff and that took about 40 minutes. Many travelers were was calling out to let us go, people had the next plane to catch. Finally a fellow was pulled aside and taken away. We could leave. My seatmate said it was one of his crew and he said now likely the fellow pulled aside by the RCMP would be banned from Air Canada!
It was a long flight and No Entertainment Screens on the plane. I don't know where they found such an old plane!
So once off the plane we ran for our next plane for our Toronto to Ottawa flight. The plane was late so there was time for a washroom break. When we finally got on the plane the captain explained that there was a wing weight imbalance since there was too much fuel put in for the trip to Ottawa in one wing and they were taking fuel out of the tank on one wing when we were boarding. Problem fixed. I watched the workers outside. There were four of them talking and socializing (laughing from time to time and the pump was in the wing gas tank. No one appeared to be watching the pump much.
We finally took off and once we were up and on the first turn the plane went sideways about 40 degrees and the whole plane creaked!! Everyone reacted. I thought the captain would would turn back to Toronto but we continued and we had side-to-side vibrations the whole way home. It was not a normal flight but the captain was excellent in handling the imbalance and we landed without any issue.
On this short flight we had entertainment screens, go figure!
Welcome home. Emily's and my luggage arrived also. So we were happy. Home finally. Norm and Teddy were happy to see me and I quickly went to bed as I knew the next four days were busy ones. It was good to be home.
Emily shared some pictures she took during the trip. There are the Mayflies on a log, the Purple Columbine, the cute baby Stone lamb, and the very young baby black bear cub.
Enjoy the last of the photos.
